This privacy policy explains what personal data Keila St. Michael’s Parish collects through its website, why, and what rights you have as a data subject.

What data we collect
We only collect personal data that you provide to us yourself:
- Contact form — your name, email address, and message content, if you write to us via the Contact page.
- Language preference — one small technical cookie (
pll_language) that remembers whether you viewed the site in Estonian or English. It does not track you elsewhere or identify you as an individual. - Donating by bank link — if you choose to donate by bank link, you enter your payment details directly within the secure environment of our authorized payment service provider, Maksekeskus AS. Our own server does not see or store this data.
We do NOT use tracking or analytics cookies, and we do not share data for advertising purposes.
Contact form and prayer requests
On the contact form you can choose to send your message to either the parish office or the pastor — the latter option is also intended for prayer requests. Because a prayer request may contain information about your religious beliefs or personal circumstances, we treat sending it as your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation) to process such information — writing and sending the message is itself that active, informed choice. For a general office enquiry, the basis for processing is your consent given when submitting the form (Article 6(1)(a)).
Your message is sent directly by email to your chosen recipient (the parish office or the pastor) — it is not published on the website or shared with third parties, other than our email service provider through which the message is delivered.
Google Maps
On the Contact page and on event pages, you can choose to open a map by clicking the “Show map” button. The map is only loaded after this click, directly from Google’s own servers — before that, the website makes no connection to Google. If you choose to open the map, Google’s own privacy policy applies to that content, which is outside our control.
How long we keep data
Messages sent via the contact form are kept for as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry and any related correspondence, after which they are deleted within a reasonable period — generally up to 2 years, unless ongoing communication or pastoral contact requires longer retention.
Who we share data with
Contact form data is not shared with third parties, other than our email service provider through which the message reaches your chosen recipient (the parish office or the pastor). We do not transfer data outside the European Union/European Economic Area.
If you donate via bank link, we transfer the personal data necessary to process the payment to our authorized processor, Maksekeskus AS (maksekeskus.ee), who relays the payment to your bank. Maksekeskus processes this data solely for the purpose of completing the payment, in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- find out what data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your data;
- withdraw your consent, where processing is based on consent (e.g. for a prayer request) — this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal;
- object to processing.

Filing a complaint
If you believe we have processed your personal data in a way that breaches the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when new features are added to the website. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
